digital accessibility digests

Over the course of the Fall 2025 semester, the Warner College communications team will send biweekly digests with tips and tricks to support making the following forms of digital media accessible:

  • Course content
  • Websites
  • PDFs
  • Word documents
  • PowerPoint presentations

why digital accessibility matters

Digital accessibility broadly refers to ensuring that individuals who utilize assistive technology can access all digital media and content. Furthermore, universal design  helps users of all abilities to consume media effectively.

All faculty and staff who produce any forms of digital content must ensure that all media are digitally accessible, meeting standards for universal design.

All forms of digital media (web content, Word documents, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, videos, digital graphic design, social media, and email) have specific requirements for digital accessibility.

This responsibility is grounded in the College’s Land Grant mission of access and the University’s Principles of Community. This responsibility is made explicit in the University policy. Compliance with digital accessibility standards is also based on federal and state law. If requests arise to update any media for digital accessibility, they must be addressed promptly.
