NURSING LEADERSHIP SPOTLIGHT

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has announced the 2023 Election results for Board of Directors and Nominating Committee. 

Congratulations to Julie Swann, MBA, MHA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer (CNO) for Emory Saint Joseph Hospital, who was elected to serve a two-year term on the Board as a practice representative. Ms. Swann began her career at Saint Joseph's Hospital in 2000 as a staff nurse in the intensive care unit. During her tenure, she led the medical-surgical ICU for several years before being promoted to Specialty Director of Cardiac Services. A strong supporter of strengthening ties between academia and practice, Ms. Swann promotes lifelong learning and higher education, creative approaches to workforce development, and volunteer service.  

Congratulations to Tanya Sudia, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN, dean and professor at the Augusta University College of Nursing, who was elected to serve a two-year term on the Nominating Committee. Dr. Sudia’s remarkable career encompasses a variety of leadership roles, including dean, research dean, professor, IRB director, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and staff nurse. Prior to joining Augusta University in 2019, she served as associate dean for Research and Scholarship at Baylor University School of Nursing and as a tenured professor at Mercer University’s Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.

GNLC MONTHLY RECAP

The 2023 GNLC 11th Doctoral Symposium for current students in doctoral programs and doctoral faculty took place on February 11, 2023 at the Emory Nursing Learning Center at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA.
This year’s theme was on the topic of, Charting Innovative Paths for Nursing Research & Scholarship.

FELLOWSHIP IN NURSING DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION NOW OPEN 

 Application Deadline: March 3, 2023
Program Dates: June 12-23, 2023

 

NHWSN is offering a summer fellowship in nursing development to afford students an opportunity to learn about the profession and the diverse nursing roles in health care.
Fellows gain a 2-week immersive experience engaged in interactive activities that highlight how nurses are reshaping health care. The summer program includes a field experience with a vulnerable population in Moultrie, Ga.
A $500.00 weekly stipend and all cost associated with the overnight field experience is provided through the FIND fellowship.

NCEMNA ANNUAL PUBLIC POLICY SUMMIT
