Augusta University’s College of Nursing is celebrating a major milestone as Dr. Blake McGee secures the college’s first NIH grant in nearly 15 years. His $176,331 R03 award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development will examine how Medicaid expansion affects maternal health outcomes in the late postpartum period. Dr. McGee was also selected for the prestigious Betty Irene Moore Fellowship, which provides $500,000 to support his research and leadership development. As part of this work, he will study Georgia’s Pathways to Coverage Program—making him one of the only researchers nationwide funded to do so. These dual achievements highlight Dr. McGee’s impactful contributions to maternal health research and health policy.
