The College is soliciting nominations and application materials for awards designed to recognize and celebrate excellence in the Warner College of Natural Resources. All nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. Awardees may receive a small cash award and will get a memento of recognition at the Warner College Awards Reception on April 20. |

The Western Collaborative Conservation Network's Confluence 2026 is a national gathering for collaborative conservation practitioners, researchers, students, and emerging leaders who are working across differences to address complex social and environmental challenges. While Confluence is rooted in the Western United States, it welcomes participants and perspectives from across the country.
Early-bird registration deadline is Saturday, Feb. 28. Regular registration closes on Tuesday, May 5. |

The four-day conference will explore the theme, “wildlife and human wellbeing.” Among other topics, Pathways Europe 2026 presenters will share research on wildlife and nature connectedness; wildlife as a muse or model for the arts; agriculture, food production, and wildlife; wildlife and leisure; human-wildlife conflict and coexistence; wildlife values; symbolic nature; and human-animal relations. The registration deadline is Monday, March 2.

The Evolutionary Demography Society is a scientific organization dedicated to fostering conceptual integration across demography, population ecology, and evolutionary biology. Their aim is to advance understanding of how environmental, ecological, and evolutionary forces shape patterns of fertility, mortality, aging, and migration in humans and across the tree of life.
Registration and abstract submission are currently open for the conference. The early-bird registration deadline has been extended to Saturday, Feb. 14. The final registration deadline is Sunday, May 17. |

| Nominate a Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026 Bachelor’s graduate to be a commencement speaker. There will be two recognition ceremonies and will therefore need two speakers: 1) Forest and Rangeland Stewardship and Ecosystem Science and Sustainability; and 2) Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology, Geosciences and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources. Deadline to nominate a student is March 1. |

| Reminder about performance evaluations |
Performance evaluations for the 2025 year should be completed in the Warner College Intranet Evaluation system, no later than the end of March. Evaluations for the 2026 calendar year will be moving into Workday. More information about performance evaluations and other HR changes will be coming out later this week via email.

| Experts from across Colorado State University will tackle a variety of questions during the spring installment of the Ram Talks speaker series. All talks are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Fort Collins Welcome Center in Old Town Square. Doors opening at 5 p.m. at which time food and beverages will be provided.
On Feb. 11, Tristan Kubik, rare invertebrate biologist for the Colorado Natural Heritage Program, and Melissa Schreiner, CSU Extension entomology specialist will be giving a talk titled: Are Insects Romantic? A Debate. |

JSET is hosting a weekly seminar series during the Spring 2026 semester on Wednesdays from 12-1 p.m. The first seminar in the series will be held on Feb. 11 and is titled: "Transdisciplinary research in times of poly-crisis: Biocultural conservation, entangled ecologies, and just transformations--insights from the Américas." | The Colorado Natural Heritage Program continues their Green Bag Seminar Series in the Spring 2026 semester. Held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, the series aims to connect the campus community and partners working in natural resources and conservation. All presentations are in-person and virtual.
The next speaker will be with John Sanderson, director of the Center for Collaborative Conservation on Feb. 18. His talk is titled: Collaborative Conservation: What it is and why it is more important now than ever. |

The Office of the Vice President for Research and the Research Acceleration Office announced the release of the third phase of the Catalyst Ready, Set, Go Program, one of several strategic initiatives under the OVPR. The Catalyst Program’s Go Request for Proposals supports interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams in pursuit of large-scale extramural funding with high-impact outcomes. Proposals for Go are due Monday, March 9 by 5 p.m. MST

| Colorado Natural Heritage Program's Siegele Conservation Science Internship Program is an opportunity for CSU undergraduate students to work alongside conservation professionals and practitioners to gain experience in the many aspects of field sciences that support natural resources and biodiversity conservation. This is a paid internship. Students cannot be graduating in Spring 2026. Please encourage your students to apply by Monday, March 2.

Mountain Sentinels is assembling a worldwide group of undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, youth, practitioners, and local and Indigenous community members dedicated to mountain well-being and sustainability. The Fellows Program is open to individuals living, working, or raised in a mountain community. Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for new or ongoing projects. Individuals who are under-served and/or under-represented in science are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Sunday, Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m. MST. CSU Demo Day is a platform that celebrates innovation across various disciplines and CSU STRATA invites students and postdocs to share their idea or method on Tuesday, April 14 at the Lory Student Center. Over $11,000 in cash prizes are awarded to participants across the university ecosystem. Abstracts are due on Friday, March 6. |
